The new edition of The Outward Bound Wilderness First Aid Handbook is due for publication in late March or early April of 1998. The terminology has been updated to reflect the changes made in the DOT Emergency Medical Technician curriculum, as well as the new format for Wilderness Medical Associates courses. There is expanded coverage of such topics as antibiotics and pain relievers, lightning related injuries, helicopter safety, and marine medicine.

The best feature of the new edition, however, is that it incorporates yet another 10 years of wisdom offered by dozens of experienced back country and marine professionals. There is no substitute for the perspective gained by being there, but this book comes close. I hope that you enjoy the reading, as much as I've enjoyed the writing!
